Touch Grass formed out of a need for community, at a time when people felt lonely and isolated. In queer communities, chosen family is integral for many but can be incredibly hard to find.
We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused retreats that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experience goes beyond relaxation — they're about empowerment, healing, and forging meaningful connections.
Our vision is for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A 2020 report by Friends of the Earth found that nearly 40% of people from minority ethnic backgrounds in England live in the most green space-deprived neighbourhoods, compared with only 14% of white people — and that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are significantly less likely to spend time in the countryside than white people. We want to change this. We deserve joyful, safe access to the emotional well-being and physical health benefits of nature too.
